Botanical Drawing Workshop

TPT invites you to join us for a botanical illustration workshop with Dr Tanya Scharaschkin.

Tanya is a botanist, artist and teacher who brings science and art together to help people slow down, observe and understand the beauty and complexity of plants. This hands-on session will introduce you to the basics of observing and drawing plant specimens. Tanya will guide participants through simple techniques for looking closely, dissecting and documenting plants, and using correct botanical terms. You do not need any prior experience in drawing or botany, complete beginners are very welcome.

Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Campbell Town Recreation Complex Function Room, Campbell Town

This workshop will be held before the TPT Annual General Meeting, which starts at 1:30 PM in the same venue. We warmly encourage participants to stay on for the AGM, It’s a great chance to connect with other members, hear what’s ahead for TPT, and get involved in shaping Threatened Plants Tasmania.

Materials will be supplied, but if you already have the following, please bring them along:

• Sketch book or pad, with artist quality paper (150 gsm or higher)
• Pencils (2H, 2B, 4B)
• Kneadable (putty) eraser
• Transparent plastic ruler with clearly marked measurements
• Clipboard or drawing board or desktop easel
• A small cutting board for dissecting specimens
• Stanley knife, razor blade or scalpel
• Fine forceps or tweezers for holding and dissecting flowers
• Magnifying glass or jewellers loop/hand lens, magnification x10 or more
• Reading glasses if you need to use them!

Places are limited and priority will be given to TPT members. Any remaining spots will be opened to non-members after one week.
